Named after one of the Turkish folk songs sampled in the record, Black Sheep Is Meaty exemplifies the cultural and stylistic interweaving and collaging throughout the album placing Syrian percussion, Tibetan working songs and Turkish melodies side by side in an electronic music context. This track absolutely doesn’t work as a single, it’s in ⅞ time, it has no chorus or discernible centre and sounds insane due to all the stylistic elements and cultural anchors jostling for dominance but that’s the record - so in that way it’s actually perfect to introduce people to the album.
